Braapfest began in 2008 as a celebration of riding and collecting vintage & classic snowmobiles. The event is always held the last full weekend in February. We transform the bar back to the early 70's with vintage snowmobile pictures, movies, parts & decor including a running sled in the bar (each year different). The bar features Blatz, Old Style & Pabst beer along with some special offerings.
What started as a Saturday event has become a 4 day vacation for many. Thursday we ride late model sleds north for the day. Friday, we run vintage sleds to Price county for lunch and visit some fun places. Saturday is the "big" day featuring a huge ride starting at 10am with a lunch stop included, then returning around 2pm for races and fun on the lake. Live music on Friday & Saturday nights along with breakfast, lunch & dinner served.
Below is just one of the many thoughts written about the event:

"Sittin' here watchin' the flames dance in my woodstove. Hamms in my hand. It's getting cold over here by Lake Windy-bago but thinkin' bout BraapFest 2014 makes it warmer. Won't be long . . . I hope all you guys that are part of so many great memories I have are all doing well this year. Look forward to seeing you again soon. For anyone who hasn't been to BraapFest I recommend you reschedule those wedding plans, put off finishing your doctorate, quit your job, sell your house, postpone that triple bypass surgery or do whateva you gotta do to be there. Your life cannot possibly be complete till you've experienced the greatest vintage snowmobiling weekend this world has to offer. Craig I'd like to thank you now ahead of time just in case I forget. Thanks for not getting mad when we drink too much and do stupid stuff (if you ever leave the hospitality industry you'd make a great anger management coach), and for the shot-ski, and for lettin' us drive sleds up onto the deck past the dining room windows and park on the picnic table, and lettin' us duct-tape eachother to the flagpole while fireworks are going off like the Fourth Of July, and for lettin' us otherwise be free to entertain ourselves at the expense of all the good folks of Springstead who tolerate us for one weekend a year without dialing 911 on us. You're the greatest. Thanks for the memories. Look forward to makin' more." Shawn
